Patricia Norton Dec. 10, 1934-Aug. 13, 2017

     Patricia Norton, age 82, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. 

     Funeral services will be held 10:30 Saturday morning, Aug. 19, 2017 at the United Church of Monticello. Rev. Jean Sullivan will officiate at the services.      Surviving is her loving husband David of 64 years; five children, Julie Stiffler, Donna (Kyle Moore) Wenndt, Deb (Lonnie) Chapman, Troy (Ann) Norton, all of Monticello, Todd (Amity) Norton, Singapore; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Albert and a sister Beverly Darrow and two infant sisters. 

     Patricia Joann Buresh was born Dec. 10, 1934 at Oxford Junction, Iowa. She was the daughter of Albert and Maxine Luke Buresh. She graduated from the Oxford Junction High School in 1952. Pat married David Norton on Jan. 17, 1953 at United Methodist Church, Oxford Junction. The couple farmed near Olin before moving to the Monticello Community in 1954. Pat cleaned houses and also did child care for many families. She later worked at the Monticello Community Schools as a Special Needs Associate. In the summer she would work at the Great Jones County Fair in the Open Exhibits area. 

     Pat loved to crochet, do ceramics and tend her flower garden. She had several collection including, Beanie Babies and Snow Babies. She made the best chicken and noodles ever. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s events. Pat was always ready to watch the Cubs or the Hawkeyes play.
