There is still time to register for the 11th Annual Pink in the Park 4K Fun Run/Walk.

This event is organized by the UnityPoint Health - Jones Regional Medical Center (JRMC) Foundation team, led by Director Amy Keltner and Volunteer Coordinator Pam Goodyear.

The proceeds from Pink in the Park help to benefit the hospital's Imaging Department, specifically their mammography services.

"The Imaging Department staff are deeply focused on supporting our patients, so the Foundation team steps in to put on this fun, family event in support," offered Keltner.

According to the hospital's website: "Imaging technologies play a critical role in patient diagnosis and have expanded to include general radiology, fluoroscopy, CT (computer tomography), mammography, ultrasound, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), nuclear medicine, bone density, and lunch cancer screening."

Pink in the Park will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 9 a.m. at Wapsipinicon State Park in Anamosa. Individual registration is $30 per person and includes a t-shirt. Those who register by Friday, Oct. 4 will be guaranteed a t-shirt. Those who register after that deadline or on the morning of the race will not be guaranteed a t-shirt.

   Check-in on Oct. 19 starts at 8:30 a.m.

"It's a positive, local event that everyone can connect to," said Keltner. "Most everyone knows someone in their circle, whether it be family, friend, neighbor, church member…someone who has been faced with the battle. Being able to participate in a shorter event in our own community provides people with a sense of support and engagement without having to travel far. It's fulfilling to be able to participate in our Pink in the Park event and support local fundraisers in order to ensure the longevity of services close to home."

Over the years, funds from this event have gone to various needs within the JRMC Imaging Department: Equipment purchases, equipment upgrades, and general needs to support each patient.

"As technology changes quickly," Keltner said, "we at JRMC are continuously working to fund equipment and upgrades to ensure the latest and greatest in cancer detection, prevention, and treatment services."

She said it's important to support your local hospital and the services JRMC provides. It's even more impactful to do so "with a strong group of community members.

"It is a really powerful moment when we're all gathered at the starting line with the same hopes and dreams for the future of this mission," added Keltner. "You're really missing out if you don't join in."
