Staff report

Kelly Postel of Monticello was sentenced to four months in prison on two counts of acquiring a controlled substance (fentanyl and morphine) by misrepresentation, fraud, deception, and subterfuge. A third count was dismissed.

The sentence will be split, with Postel serving the first two months in a designated facility and the remaining two months on home confinement.

In addition, Postel was fined a total of $5,700, and placed on one year of supervised release.

The Northern Iowa District Court recommended that Postel be designated to a Bureau of Prisons facility in close proximity to her family, to commensurate with her security and custody classification needs. It was also recommended that she participate in a Bureau of Prisons’ 500-hour Comprehensive Residential Drug Abuse Treatment Program or an alternative substance abuse program.

In February, Postel pleaded guilty to two counts of the indictment, the incidents having taken place in November and December 2018.
