RC&D announces new cultural trails website

Limestone Bluffs RC&D is pleased to announce the creation of four new cultural arts trails and webpage at www.golimestonetrails.org. The new tourism-oriented online resource highlights arts, music, cultural and historical sites that are considered “hidden gems” in a six-county area of Eastern Iowa. The website features cultural venues in Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson and Jones counties in Iowa.

The project, funded through an Iowa Arts Council Partnership Grant and supported by Limestone Bluffs Resource Conservation and Development, has been under construction for the past year by the volunteer members of the Limestone Bluffs Regional Cultural Council, a grassroots regional leadership team dedicated to enhancing preservation, protection, interpretation and promotion of Eastern Iowa’s art, culture and history.

A visit to the new website, www.golimestonetrails.org, will reveal a collection of interesting cultural points of interest in each of the six-member counties, plus four thematic trails visitors can visit all within a day’s drive. Perfect for late summer adventures, the “trails” showcase venues focused on the promotion of fine arts, history, local museums, and points of particular interest in the more rural areas of Eastern Iowa. These places are considered hidden treasures in their respective communities, maybe not so well known, and yet are full of interesting surprises for visitors.

Maps of the trail are available to download from the website, and soon will be available at each featured trail location and at local tourism/chamber/welcome centers as well. Visitors should double check hours of availability and costs for each venue, but many opportunities are free and all are family-friendly.

Watch for updates and future trail announcements on the Go Limestone Trails website and on Facebook.
