River Bend Foods group holding public meeting

The next meeting of the River Bend Local Foods Group will be Thursday, Feb. 1, beginning at 7 p.m. at the USDA Service Center, 30 Chamber Dr., Anamosa.

They will be discussing what the needs and desires are for a local foods promotion/program in Eastern Iowa. Activities can be geared for producers and consumers alike.

Specifically they will be exploring the possibilities of projects that might be able to be grant funded through an IDALS Specialty Block Grant – with a deadline of March 2, 2018. There are also grants available for a regional approach to Farmers Market promotions and Farm to School projects as well.

What needs do you have as a producer? What would you like to see in your community?

If you are unable to attend the meeting, your ideas and suggestions for possible projects are welcome.

This meeting will be an informal work session with open discussion to help River Bend Local Foods Group determine if they will write for grant funding this year.

RSVPs are encouraged so the group knows how many people to plan for. Contact Limestone Bluffs RC&D Director Lori Scovel at 563-221-1930 or lscovel@limestonebluffsrcd.org
