River Rd. accident results in fatality

     An early-morning rollover on River Road in Monticello resulted in the fatality of an Anamosa man.

     On Sept. 5, at 2:02 a.m., Shawun Michael Brewer, 44, of Anamosa was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer southbound on River Road. His passenger was 42-year-old Jerame Lee Foster, of Monticello. Brewer’s vehicle entered the west ditch and rolled several times before striking a unity pole. The vehicle came to rest facing east, on its top.

     According to the Iowa State Patrol accident report, Brewer was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Foster’s injuries were not released.

     The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office, Monticello Police, Monticello Fire, and the Jones County Medical Examiner.
