      Rose Mardorf, age 69, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021 at Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. Private family services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 at Goettsch Funeral Home. We request that you wear a mask when entering the funeral home as social distancing cannot always be assured.

      Surviving are her husband Clifford, five children, Wendy (Doug) Feldman of Cedar Rapids, Frank (Jennifer) Rudolf III of Monticello, Jason (Eunice) Mardorf of Cedar Rapids, Valarie (Lee) Mardorf of Culver City, Calif., Leslie (Fidencio) Diaz of Houston, Texas, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three sisters, Jane Barnts of Monticello, Karen (Larry) Goss of Cedar Rapids, Barb Salser of Minneapolis, Minn., two brothers, James Simmons of Scotch Grove, Mike (Jeannie) Simmons of Cedar Rapids and her best friend Sharon Scott. She was preceded in death by all her parents, six brothers, Lynn, John, Delbert, Bill, Doug and Rich Simmons and a sister, Shary Jensen.

      Rose Mary Simmons was born July 21, 1951 at Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Delbert and Mae Barnes, Simmons. She was raised lovingly by her uncle Wilbur and aunt Etta Simmons and she called Wilbur, "Dad". Rose graduated from Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1969. She attended nursing school and worked as a waitress before getting married. She married Frank Rudolf Jr. on Dec. 29, 1973. The couple made their home in Sheldahl and Marshalltown. He would precede her in death on Sept. 11, 1979. Rose returned to the Monticello community where she married Clifford Mardorf on June 19, 1995. They farmed North of Monticello and Rose also worked at J.T. Hadherway. Rose enjoyed her pets, and watching football, especially the Hawkeyes, flowers, gardening, going fishing and sketching. Rose was a kind and caring person and was always ready to help a friend. She loved spending time with her family, children and grandchildren.
