Monticello is home to a rare business in the area.

Royal Flush Truck and Trailer Washout plans to open yet this month (Oct. 17 if all goes as planned). The truck and trailer wash business is located behind Karde’s 151 south of town, with access off 190th Street.

While a typical car wash can be seen in almost every town, it’s rare to find a truck and trailer wash, especially one catering to the livestock industry.

“We saw the need in the industry, as there are a lack of washouts compared to the number of livestock haulers on the road,” shared the partners of Royal Flush. “This region is heavily populated with livestock farmers and haulers so the location made sense being along Highway 151 and being close to Karde’s 151 to make the trip convenient for our customers.”

Those business partners involved in Royal Flush include: Mike Beck, Flynn McLain IV, Greg Preussner, Scott Mihm, and Scott Wilson.

The 13,200 square-foot facility can accommodate full-size semi trucks and trailers. Each of the three wash bays are 110 feet long.

“We designed the wash facility to be very friendly to the truckers in terms of time spent, cleanliness, and quality.”

The facility was built out of concrete to extend its lifespan with constant daily moisture inside. “In this type of environment, steel buildings tend to rust much quicker.”

While their primary business will be exterior and interior trailer washouts, Royal Flush will also offer additional services: manure scooping, salt, wood shavings, and trailer drop-off service.

Unlike a car wash where drivers pull into the automatic service, Royal Flush hired employees to do the washing for the customers. Starting out, they plan to be open: 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday; and 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

Royal Flush has been able to contribute to the local economy and workforce by hiring seven full-time employees. The facility will be managed by Larry Steffensmeier.

In addition to the three wash bays, there is also a lounge with TVs for customers to sit and relax while their trucks are being washed.

Royal Flush offers hot and cold washes, soap, and/or complete disinfectants.

“Also a flush service where we have a high-pressure large hose comparable to a fire hose.”

There will also be the “shag service” option where customers can drop off their truck/trailer to be washed and not have to sit and wait. Those trucks will be washed during the slower times of the day.

With three wash bays, one of the bays will be operational 24/7 for self-service.

“After closing time, truckers can pull in and wash their trucks at their convenience.”

Drivers can pay via a credit/ debt card system.
