School board nomination filing period begins July 10

     Janine Sulzner, Jones County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections, announced that the nomination filing period for school board directors will begin Monday, July 10, in the offices of the school board secretaries. The filing period runs until 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017. All nomination papers must be filed in the office of the school board secretary.

     In the Monticello School District, three seats are up for election for four-year terms. The signatures of at least 45 eligible electors of the district are required on nomination petitions.

     In the Anamosa School District, three seats are up for election for four-year terms, as well as one seat to fill a vacancy for the remaining two years of the term. The signatures of at least 50 eligible electors of the district are required on nomination petitions.

     In the Midland School District, four seats are up for election for four-year terms. The signatures of at least 25 eligible electors of the district are required on nomination petitions.

     In the Olin School District, two seats are up for election for four-year terms. The signatures of at least 11 eligible electors of the district are required on nomination petitions.

     Nomination packets are available in the office of the school board secretary, the Jones County Auditor’s Office, and are also available from the elections sections of the County Auditor’s webpage on the Jones County website: www.jonescountyiowa.org.

     The School Board Elections are on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017.
