School Foundation a key cog in helping Monticello school students

As the curriculum and special programs director for Monticello Schools, I have the privilege of seeing our classrooms up close every single day.

I witness the curiosity of our students, the dedication of our teachers and the constant effort it takes to provide learning experiences that truly prepare children for their future.

I also have the unique role of serving as the liaison between Monticello School District and the Monticello School Foundation. From that vantage point, I can say with complete confidence the Monticello School Foundation makes a real, measurable difference for our students.

The Monticello School Foundation exists for one simple but powerful purpose: to support student learning by funding opportunities and resources that go beyond what public funding alone can provide. Because of the Foundation’s generosity, our teachers have access to high‑quality instructional materials, innovative technology and hands‑on learning tools that bring lessons to life. These resources support everything from early literacy and mathematics to advanced coursework, career exploration and enrichment opportunities that help every learner grow.

One of the most impactful ways the Foundation supports our schools is by directly responding to the needs identified by teachers. Whether it’s updated curriculum materials, interactive learning tools or software that helps personalize instruction, these investments allow teachers to focus on what they do best: teaching, inspiring and supporting students. Simply put, the Foundation’s support helps turn good ideas into meaningful classroom experiences.

Events like the Monticello School Foundation’s 21st Annual Tailgate Party & Alumni Reunion are critical to making this work possible. This year’s theme, “Top Pick in 2026 — Monticello Schools,” is a fitting celebration of the strength of our schools and the community that stands behind them. Funds raised through this event go directly back into our classrooms, benefiting students across the district.

Beyond its impact, the Tailgate Party is also a wonderful way to reconnect with friends, alumni and neighbors while supporting a cause that touches nearly every family in our community.

On Saturday, March 7, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Monticello Berndes Center, attendees will enjoy a relaxed evening filled with delicious food, school spirit, silent and live auctions and opportunities to directly support the future of Monticello Schools. It’s an event that combines fun, tradition and purpose.

When you attend, sponsor and/or donate, you are doing more than purchasing a ticket, you are investing in students, teachers, and the long‑term success of our community. Your support helps ensure that Monticello Schools remain a place where students have access to engaging, high‑quality learning opportunities that prepare them for whatever path they choose.

I encourage community members, alumni, parents and friends of Monticello Schools to join us for this special evening. Your presence and support truly matter, and the impact of the Monticello School Foundation can be seen every day in our classrooms.

Together, we are growing opportunities for our students and investing in the future of our community, so please join us on March 7.
