Seeking information on Dillon’s Furrow

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

It has come to my attention that due to the fact that in 1914, the Iowa DOT was founded along with many road organizations asking the Iowa DOT to be recognized, that is why there is no mention of Dillon’s Furrow. Along with that, in 1916 the Good Roads Act was enacted. Dillon’s Furrow was dropped and was replace by the red “X” route, which starts in Iowa City and ends up in Dubuque. This is mentioned on the 1914-25 Iowa state highway map. Also, this is sections of current Highways 1 and151, which is either called the Old Military Road or local county roads or Old Highway 151. If I’m in error in any way, please correct me.
