FFA WEEK

     Officers, award-winners, leaders. All of these are represented in the list of seniors in the Monticello FFA Chapter.

     Here is a capsule look at seniors within the chapter.

 

     Name: Eli Beitz.

     Parents/Guardians: Gerald and Susan Beitz.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     SAE Project: Beitz Farm.

     FFA Activities: Food Science and FFA Week all four years of high school.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Earning my Iowa Degree.

     Future Plans: Go to Kirkwood to take its diesel ag technology program.

 

Name: Michael Blunt.

     Parents/Guardians: Jeff Blunt, Stacey Winch.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     Future Plans: Take a few basic trade classes (computer science business, etc.) before pursuing a major.

 

     Name: Rachel Nelson.

     Parents/Guardians: Cathy Nelson and Steve Saunders.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     SAE Project: Working as a cashier at Fareway.

     FFA Activities: Horse Judging, Floriculture, Nursery Landscape, Farm Business Management, Feed the Farmers, National Convention, and Conduct of Meetings.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Either National Convention or State Convention.

     Future Plans: Obtaining a degree in CNC machining and welding.

 

     Name: Kristen Roher.

     Parents/Guardians: Dan and Kelly Roher.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     SAE Project: Raising rabbits and working at MinnTex.

     FFA Activities: Sub-Districts, National FFA Convention, Horse Judging CDE.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: National FFA Convention.

     Future Plans: Attend Kirkwood Community College to pursue the Associates of Sciences degree. After that, I plan to transfer to Iowa State University for my bachelor’s degree in animal science. Later I hope to be accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State.

 

     Name: Adam Schmitt.

     Office Held: President.

     Parents/Guardians: Eric Schmitt and Jodi Suthers.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     SAE Project: Lawn care.

     FFA Activities: State FFA Ag Biotechnology and Farm Business Management, Fall Fest, FFA Banquet, Sub-District Volleyball, Sub-District Convention, Greenhand Fire-Up, Amplify Conference.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Making ninth place individually at State Convention in Ag-Biotechnolgy sophomore year.

     Future Plans: Go to Iowa State University for culinary food science.

 

     Name: Ashlynn Sparks.

     Parents/Guardians: Jessica Sparks and Jason Sparks.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     SAE Project: Dairy Cattle.

     FFA Activities: Great Jones County Fair, Delaware County Fair, Iowa State Fair, National Cattle Congress.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Getting Grand Champion Guernsey Cow at the Great Jones County Fair.

     Future Plans: Attending Capri College for cosmetology.

     Name: Gabrielle Steiner.

     Parents/Guardians: Lisa Steiner and Kevin Steiner.

     Hometown: Monticello.

     FFA Activities: Horse Judging.

     Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Placing in the top 10 at Horse Judging my sophomore year.

     Future Plans: Attend Kirkwood Community College to get my Associates of Sciences degree.
