Seventh-graders score wins
Seventh-grade
girls’ basketball
Monticello swept both North Cedar and Anamosa in a pair of seventh-grade girls’ basketball dates last week.
On Nov. 19, Monticello defeated host North Cedar by scores of 30-18 and 8-6.
The next afternoon, the Panther teams traveled to Anamosa and swept the Blue Raiders, 29-10 and 24-6.
Eighth-grade
girls’ basketball
Monticello’s A team won three games against River Valley Conference opponents in recent eighth-grade girls’ basketball action.
The Panthers traveled to Goose Lake to take on Northeast Nov. 13. The A team won 45-6, as Reagan Schneiter scored 16 points and Jaelyn Aitchison added 11. Also scoring were Katie Roher with seven, Madison Butterworth with six, Brea Stahlberg and Nora Sperfslage with two apiece, and Mia Jaeger with one.
The B team lost 16-14. Scoring for Monticello were Bella Mullen with eight, Aleasha Schilling with four, and Savannah Freese with two.
On Nov. 15, the Panthers played at Camanche. The A team won 44-6. Aitchison led the way with 16 points, Roher and Schneiter had eight each, Jaeger had six, Butterworth scored four, and Stahlberg added two.
The B team lost 6-2, with Mullen scoring the Panther points.
Monticello played at North Cedar in an A game only on Nov. 19, and won 48-21 as Aitchison scored 24 points. Schneiter added 11, Stahlberg had seven, Roher scored five, Mullen had two and Jaeger had one.
