Sheriff's Report

A car versus deer accident took place on Dec. 25 at 6:30 p.m. on County Road E-16. Cali Sue Beals, 64, of Anamosa was driving a 2014 Cadillac XTS when she encountered a deer in the roadway. Beals was uninjured; however, her passenger, Margaret Ritchey, 38, of Monticello sustained minor injuries. She was transported by Monticello Ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for her injuries. Beals’ vehicle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damages. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Dec. 29 at 6:06 a.m. on County Road E-17. Jessica Ann Patterson, 33, of Anamosa was driving a 2013 Chevy Impala when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Patterson’s vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages. 

A single-vehicle accident took place on Dec. 30 at 8:37 a.m. on Highway 151. Camryn Helen Porter, 21, of Cedar Rapids was driving a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta southbound in the left lane as she observed a vehicle coming behind her at a high rate of speed. Porter merged into the other lane and lost control due to icy road conditions. She entered the right ditch. No injuries were reported. Porter’s vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damages. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Dec. 31 at 6:20 a.m. on Highway 38. Jessica Marie Hilger, 36, of Olin was driving a 2014 Ford Edge when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Hilger’s vehicle sustained an estimated $3,000 in damages. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Jan. 2 at 7:05 a.m. on County Road X-28. Rebecca Ann Boone, 26, of Anamosa was driving a 2016 Ford Escape when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Boone’s vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages. 

A single-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 1 at 10:23 a.m. on County Road E-29. Mark Kendall McConohy, 29, of Charlotte, was driving a 2004 Buick Lesabre traveling east when he crossed the centerline and entered the north ditch. His vehicle went through a fence and landed in the nearby pasture. The extent of McConohy’s injuries is unknown. His vehicle sustained $1,000 in damages. 

A single-vehicle rollover accident took place on Jan. 1 at 3:51 p.m. on Highway 64. Anna Katrina Goddard, 18, of Maquoketa was driving a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus LXI traveling westbound when the right rear tire dropped off the roadway onto the shoulder. She attempted to correct herself and the vehicle began swerving uncontrollably. Goddard entered the ditch where the vehicle rolled a couple times before coming to rest on its wheels. No injuries were reported. Goddard’s vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages.
