Sheriff's Report

A single-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 12 at 12:01 a.m. on County Road D-62. Paul George Sperfslage, 58, of Manchester, was traveling east in a 2010 Dodge Avenger R/T when he started to slow down to make a turn to the north. He hit his brakes and the rear end of his vehicle swung around, causing him to lose control. His vehicle entered the ditch, rolled, and came to rest on its wheels. No injuries were reported. There was an estimated $1,000 in damage to Sperfslage’s vehicle. 

A single-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 12 at 9:45 p.m. in Wapsipinicon State Park. Scott Joseph Moeller, 55, of Anamosa was driving a 2007 Lexus IS250 when he lost control due to icy road conditions. Moeller’s vehicle ended up in the ditch. No injuries were reported. His vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages. 

A two-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 11 at 12:51 p.m. on County Road D-62. Philip John Schlarmann, 74, of Monticello was driving a 1995 Chevy Blazer eastbound when he attempted to make a U-turn. Everett Franklin Rowland, 74, of Clermont was driving a 2008 Dodge Caravan when he was unable to stop due to slippery road conditions. Both vehicles made contact. Schlarmann’s vehicle sustained $1,000 in damages, while Rowland’s vehicle sustained $3,000. 

A single-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 15 at 8:14 a.m. on County Road X-64. James J. Wenninger, 54, of Rubicon, Wis., was driving a 2017 Volvo semi trailer traveling north when he lost control, due to icy road conditions. His vehicle continued into the ditch and rolled onto the driver’s side. Wenninger sustained possible injuries. There was approximately $20,000 in damage to the semi. 

A single-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 15 at 8:43 a.m. on Highway 136. Ricky Thomas Egan, 60, of Oxford Junction was driving a 1990 Chevy C15 when he lost control due to winter road conditions. His vehicle overturned. No injuries were reported. Egan’s vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages.
