Sheriff's Report

A single-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 19 at 8:30 p.m. on County Road X-31. Christopher John Larson, 30, of Anamosa was driving a 2015 Can-Am Commander UTV on the icy-covered roadway when he lost control, causing the UTV to slide into the west ditch. The vehicle came to rest on the driver’s side. Larson was partially ejected and trapped underneath the UTV. Larson was transported by the Anamosa Area Ambulance to Jones Regional Medical Center for suspected serious injuries. Damage to his UTV was estimated at $4,000. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Jan. 27 at 6:28 a.m. on Highway 64. Samantha Jane McAtee, 29, of Olin was driving a 2014 Chevy Equinox when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. McAtee’s vehicle sustained an estimated $3,000 in damages. 

A two-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 28 at 8:12 a.m. near the intersection of County Road E-34 and Fish House Road. Jordan Scott Farley, 19, of Anamosa was driving a 1998 Toyota Avalon coming around a curve when his vehicle began to slide due to icy road conditions. Holly Diane Randall, 37, of Anamosa was driving a 2018 Ford Explorer when Farley’s vehicle collided with hers. Neither driver was injured; however, Randall had two small children in her vehicle and requested that ambulance personnel check them out. Farley’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 in damages. Randall’s vehicle sustained $4,000 in damages. 

A single-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. on Highway 151. Jacobi Michael McClure, 19, of Stanwood was driving a 2016 Ford Escape northbound when he hit a patch of ice and slid into a snow bank. The vehicle entered the median. No injuries were reported. McClure’s vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages.
