Sheriff's Report

A single-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 1 at 1:18 a.m. on Highway 151. Brett Joseph Moravek, 34, of Marion was driving a 2008 Ford Fusion when he swerved to avoid hitting an object on the roadway. Moravek lost control and entered the right side of the ditch as he began sliding sideways through the snow. His vehicle rolled twice before coming to rest up right. When the Jones County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived on scene, Moravek admitted to consuming alcohol and marijuana prior to the accident. He was arrested on scene. No injuries were reported. Damage to Moravek’s vehicle was estimated at $13,000.

A car versus deer accident took place on Feb. 4 at 6:09 a.m. on Fairview Road/ County Road E-34. Joseph Scott Ford, 58, of Anamosa was driving a 2013 Toyota Rav4 when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Ford’s vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages.
