Sheriff's Report

     A car versus deer accident took place on March 24 at 6:54 a.m. on County Road E-16. Jessica Lynn McElmeel, 43, of Monticello was driving a 2015 Nissan Sentra when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported for either the driver or a minor passenger. McElmeel’s vehicle sustained an estimated $3,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on March 23 at 9:50 p.m. on County Road E-34/Fairview Road. Daniel James Mulder, 36, of Vinton was driving a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Mulder’s vehicle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damages.

     A two-vehicle accident took place on March 24 at 12:05 a.m. near the intersection of W. Main St./Highway 64 and N. Washington St. in Wyoming. Eathan Lee Walsh, 25, of Maquoketa was driving a 2004 Chevy 1500 Pickup when he was stopped at a stop sign heading north. Walsh was focused on the eastbound traffic when he pulled out of the intersection and hit an oncoming vehicle traveling west. That vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Charger, was driven by Kourtnee Ann Tallman, 29, of Onslow. Walsh was uninjured. Tallman was transported by Wyoming Ambulance to Jones Regional Medical Center for her injuries. Walsh’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 in damages; while Tallman’s vehicle took on $5,000 in damages. Walsh was cited for failure to obey stop sign.
