Sheriff's Report

     A single-vehicle accident took place on June 27 11:22 a.m. near County Road D-62 and 175^th Avenue. Janet Louise Beckman, 73, of Monticello was driving a 2016 Chevy Impala Limited west on D-62 when she struck loose gravel on the roadway, causing her to fishtail. Beckman lost control. Her vehicle left the roadway, striking a stop sign. No injuries were reported. There was $150 in damages to the sign, owned by Jones County Secondary Roads. Beckman’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 in damages.

     A two-vehicle accident took place on June 24 at 9:15 p.m. on Highway 151. Cloie Elizabeth Wilson, 18, of Hopkinton was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion southbound on the highway. An unknown male driving a black truck sideswiped Wilson’s vehicle as it attempted to pass her on the highway. No description of the second vehicle or license plate was obtained before it sped off. Wilson’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 in damages. No injuries were reported.
