Sheriff's Report

     A car versus deer accident took place on Aug. 27 at 9:37 p.m. on Highway 38. Aaron Wilson Versendaal, 40, of Wyoming, was driving a 2007 Dodge R15 when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Versendaal’s vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on Aug. 27 around 10 p.m. on 60^th Street north of Oxford Junction. Nathan Derric Ehlers, 24, of Lost Nation was driving a 2003 Ford F250 west on 60^th Street when he lost control around a curve. Ehlers’ vehicle rolled into the ditch, hitting a utility pole owned by Maquoketa Valley Electric, causing power to go out in the area. Ehlers sustained serious injuries and was privately transported to the Jackson County Medical Center. There was approximately $5,000 to his vehicle, and $1,200 in damage to the utility pole. Ehlers was cited for failure to maintain control.
