Sheriff's Report

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 9 at 7:01 p.m. on Highway 136. Rochelle Catherine Hoeger, 47, of Dyersville, was driving a 2013 Chrysler Town & Country Van when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Hoeger’s vehicle sustained an estimated $3,500 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 9 at 5:05 p.m. on County Road X-31. Timothy David Norton, 25, of Anamosa, was driving a 2009 Nissan Seneca when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Norton’s vehicle sustained an estimated $6,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 11 at 7:41 p.m. on Highway 64. Jerry Thomas Tompkins, 71, of La Porte City, was driving a 2016 Chevy Traverse when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Tompkins’ vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages.

     A two-vehicle accident took place on Oct. 11 at 5:15 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 38 and County Home Road E-23. Lance Gregory Mausser, 21, of Epworth, was driving a 2008 Ford Taurus when he was stopped at a stop sign facing east on E-23. Mausser turned left onto Highway 38 and was struck by oncoming traffic heading south. Jordan Allen Smith, 18, of Anamosa was driving a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon GT when he swerved to miss Mausser, clipping his front passenger side. Both drivers were uninjured. Mausser’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 in damages and he was cited for failure to yield upon left turn. Smith’s vehicle sustained $5,000 in damages and he was cited for driving while license suspended.
