Sheriff's Report

     A vehicle fire took place on Aug. 13 at 8:37 p.m. on Highway 151. Brian C. Erwin, 45, of Kenosha, Wis., was driving a 1972 GMC pickup truck on 151 northbound when the truck burst into flames. No injuries were reported. The truck was completly totaled.

     A single-vehicle accident took place on Aug. 18 at 7:08 p.m. on Jones-Delaware Road. Brent Michael Wallenmeyer, 26, of Olin was driving a 2000 GMC Sonoma when he attempted to turn around on the gravel road. He ended up on the steep shoulder as his truck entered the ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to Wallenmeyer’s vehicle was estimated at $1,500. He was cited for driving while suspended.

     A single-vehicle accident took place on Aug. 20 at 6:30 a.m. on County Home Road E-23. Robert Earl Riddell, 37, of Dubuque was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Passat when he swerved to avoid an animal in the road. His car entered the ditch, went up an embankment, and launched into the air before coming to rest on all four tires. Riddell sustained possible injuries. Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $10,000.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Aug. 18 at 9:05 p.m. on Highway 151. Angela Marie White, 42, of Cedar Rapids was driving a 2017 Lincoln MKZ when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to White’s vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

     A single-vehicle accident took place on Aug. 21 at 1:49 a.m. on Violet Road. Hannah Kay Lange, 27, of Anamosa was driving a 2015 Kia Sedona southbound when she drove off the roadway and into the east ditch. Her vehicle came to a stop in the middle of a fence. Lange was transported by EMS to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for suspected injuries. Damage to her vehicle is estimated at $3,000.
