Sheriff's report

• A motorist form Maquoketa hit a deer in Jones County at 8:20 p.m. on Oct. 6. 

A crash report states Lorna Sue Scott was driving on Highway 38 when she hit the animal. 

Damage to Scott’s 2022 Ford Maverick was estimated at $2,000. 

 

• A two-vehicle crash on U.S. 151 sent one motorist to the hospital. 

A crash report states Carolyn Lea Albaugh, of Mechanicsville, was driving n Shaw Road and approached the intersection with U.S. 151. A witness stated Albaugh entered the northbound lanes in front of the path of a truck driven by Jason Michael Hefel, 23, of Epworth, according to the crash report. 

Albaugh sustained minor injuries in the incident and was transported to Jones Regional Medical Center for treatment. Hefel sustained a possible injury and was not transported. 

Damage to Hefel’s 1995 Kenworth was estimated at $5,000 and was totaled. Albaugh’s 2013 Hyundai Sonata sustained an estimated $5,000 and was totaled. 

 

• A deer vs. car incident took place at 1:22 a.m. Sept. 27 on U.S. 151 northbound. 

A crash report states Aundrea Lynn Price, of Lincoln, Neb., struck the animal on the highway. 

Damage to Price’s 2021 Nissan Rogue was estimated at $2,000.
