Sheriff's Report
• A car vs. deer crash took place at 3:09 p.m. Dec. 2.
A Jones County Sheriff’s Office crash report states Brian P. Schilt, of East Dubuque, Ill., was driving on E28 when he struck the deer.
Damage to Schilt’s 2023 Subaru Forester was estimated at $5,000.
• Doris June McElmeel, of Anamosa, hit a deer at 6:40 p.m. Dec. 1.
A crash report states McElmeel was driving on Amber Road when the incident took place.
The 2008 Chevrolet Colorado sustained an estimated $1,500 in damage.
• A deer in the road caused a motorist to perform an evasive maneuver and end up in the ditch.
A crash report states Noah Nicholas Noel, of Wyoming, was driving on Highway 136 at 3:45 a.m. Dec. 1 when a deer crossed the road. Noel swerved, entered the ditch, and hit a concrete culvert.
Damage to the 2016 Dodge Ram Noel was driving was estimated at $5,000.
• A motorist from Roscoe, Ill., hit a deer in the road at 7:15 p.m. Nov. 30.
A crash report states Colton Schmidt was driving on X64 when he struck the animal.
Damage to Schmidt’s 2007 Nissan Versa was estimated at $5,000.
• A motorist from Asbury sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 4:31 p.m. Nov. 30.
A crash report states Linda Lou Budde, was injured and transported to Mercy Hospital in Marion for treatment.
The report states Budde and Lacey Kayanne Stout, of Anamosa, were both driving northbound on U.S. 151. Stout slowed to turn right onto Basham Lane and Budde, who was trailing Stout, failed to slow, the report states. The vehicle collided.
Budde admitted to authorities she did not see Stout’s vehicle, the report states.
Budde’s 2017 Honda CRV sustained an estimated $10,000 in damage and was totaled. The 2013 Ford Edge driven by Stout sustained an estimated $10,000 in damage and was also totaled. A one-way sign owned by the Iowa DOT sustained $200 in damage as well.
