Sheriff's Report

     A car versus deer accident took place on May 27 at 8:24 p.m. on Highway 151. Mary Jo Becker Kinney, 55, of Coralville was driving a 2006 Toyota Sienna when she came into contact with a deer on the roadway. No injuries were reported. Becker Kinney’s vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on June 3 at 8:57 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 136 and County Road E-17. Donna Mae Clark, 83, of Baldwin was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer when her vehicle left the road, running a stop sign, landing in a cornfield. The Sheriff’s report listed Clark’s condition as fatigued at the time of the accident. Midland Ambulance transported Clark to Jones Regional Medical Center for her injuries. Her vehicle sustained approximately $5,500 in damages. There was also $500 in damages to the stop sign and fence owned by Donald Fagen of Onslow.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on June 4 at about 1 a.m. on Highway 136. David James DeMoss, 36, of Lost Nation, was driving a 1995 GMC Sierra K1500 when he lost control. His vehicle overturned when it left the roadway. According to the Sheriff’s report, DeMoss was found at around 10 a.m. and was airlifted to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for serious injuries. His vehicle sustained approximately $8,000 in damages. There was also $500 in damages to a fence owned by Dennis Coon of Oxford Junction.
