Sheriff's Report

     A one-vehicle accident took place on Dec. 10 at 8:16 p.m. Larry Michael Holub, 45, of Coggon, was driving a 2006 Ford F250 on County Road D-62 when he lost control. The road was covered with snow, causing Holub’s vehicle to cross the roadway as he entered the ditch. His vehicle then struck a tree on private property.  According to the accident report, Holub was driving too fast for the road conditions. The report also states that Holub left the scene of the accident and did not report the accident to law enforcement. The property owner of the tree, Ronald Bernard Schemmel, reported the accident. Holub was privately transported to Jones Regional Medical Center for his injuries. His vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damages. There was also $1,000 in damages to the tree.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Dec. 14 at 6:24 a.m. on County Home Road E-23. Jeremy Paul Shover, 43, of Onslow, was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad S when a deer entered the roadway, striking his vehicle. No injuries were reported. Shover’s vehicle sustained approximately $4,000 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on Dec. 8 at 7:40 p.m. on Highway 64. According to the accident report, the unnamed driver of a 1998 Ford LSG rolled over on the highway, just east of Landis Road, ending up in the south ditch. The vehicle was traveling eastbound when the driver lost control. The driver left the scene of the accident. The Sheriff’s Deputy then located open and closed alcohol containers inside the vehicle. The vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages.

     A two-vehicle accident took place on Dec. 15 at 3:45 p.m. on County Road E-34. Johnathon Richard Tuttle, 33, of Anamosa, was driving a 2006 Saturn VUE when he pulled in front of an oncoming vehicle. The second vehicle, a 1997 Ford Ranger, was driven by Jamie Alen Boge, 28, of Anamosa. No injuries were reported. Tuttle’s vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages. Boge’s vehicle sustained approximately $6,000 in damages.
