Sheriff's Report

     A car versus deer accident took place on July 5 at 1:30 a.m. on Ridge Road/County Road E-28. Connorjay Darrellee Waybill, 18, of Central City was driving a 2014 Ford Escape when he struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Waybill’s vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages.

     An unattended vehicle sustained damage while parked in a grass field on 190th Street. Amanda Kay Britcher, 36, of Hopkinton reported that her 2013 Mazda MZ3 was struck on the front driver’s side; no witnesses saw the incident. No injuries were reported. Britcher’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 in damages.

     A two-vehicle accident took place on July 11 at 6:53 a.m. on County Road X-40. Logan Eric Egge, 27, of Olin was driving a 2001 Chevy pickup when he crossed the centerline and hit a garbage truck. The driver of the garbage truck, a 2000 INTE 4000 Series 490, was John Jackson Norris, 60, of Anamosa. Norris was uninjured. The garbage truck sustained approximately $1,500 in damages. Egge was trapped inside his vehicle, which sustained approximately $15,000 in damages. He was transported by Anamosa Area Ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for his serious injuries.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on May 21 at 8:26 p.m. on County Road E-45. Breanna Renee Bristol, 23, of Morley was driving a 1994 Chevy K1500 when she left the roadway. Her vehicle traveled along the gravel shoulder, grass and ended up in a field. Bristol sustained minor injuries and was transported to Jones Regional Medical Center by Anamosa Area Ambulance. Her vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 in damages. The field, owned by Jim Ballou of Olin, sustained approximately $70 in damages. Bristol was charged with failure to maintain control, driving on wrong side of two-way highway, and OWI.

     A car versus deer accident took place on July 15 at 1:35 a.m. on Highway 151. Megan Marie Gibbons, 21, of Johnston, was driving a 2008 Toyota RAV4 when she struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Gibbons’ vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 in damages.

     A car versus animal accident took place on July 10 at 4:14 p.m. on Highway 64. Samantha Elizabeth Prybil was west on Highway 64 when an animal entered the roadway. Prybil dropped her tires onto the shoulder to avoid hitting the animal. This caused her to lose control, striking a mailbox. Anamosa Area Ambulance transported Prybil to Jones Regional Medical Center for an anxiety attack. Her vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 in damages.
