Sheriff's Report

     A one-vehicle rollover accident took place on Aug. 11 at 11:42 p.m. on County Road E-28. Katherine Lynn Hersom, 46, of Anamosa was driving a 2012 Nissan Rogue when she lost control. Hersom entered the ditch on the north side of the roadway and her vehicle rolled onto its top. She was evaluated on scene by paramedics and transported to Jones Regional Medical Center by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department for her injuries. She was later arrested for OWI 1st offense. Hersom’s vehicle sustained approximately $15,000 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on Aug. 16 at 12:04 p.m. near 160th Avenue and the Muskrat Slough Wildlife Management Area. When the Jones County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived on scene, he saw a 2009 Jeep Patriot Sport sitting on its passenger side in the creek near the entrance of Muskrat Slough. No occupants were found. After the Dispatch Center ran the license plate, it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen from Anamosa. The vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damages. There was also approximately $2,000 in damages to the bridge posts owned by Jones County Secondary Roads.
