Sheriff's Report

      A car versus deer accident took place on Sept. 26 at 7 a.m. on Highway 38. Leslie Joan Lyon, 40, of Olin, was driving a 2010 Ford Escape when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Lyon’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,500 in damages.

     A two-vehicle accident took place on Sept. 9 at 5:21 p.m. at Highway 38 and County Home Road E-23. Kyle James Wacker, 31, of Martelle was driving a 2008 Jeep Wrangler when he stopped at a stop sign to proceed west. Chenoa Lynn Denolf, 41, of Onslow was driving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix heading south. Wacker pulled into the intersection, not seeing Denolf, who sideswiped Wacker’s vehicle. Denolf entered the ditch and rolled her vehicle, coming to rest on the driver’s side. Wacker sustained possible injuries, and was charged with failure to yield from stop sign. Denolf was transported by LifeGuard Helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for her injuries. An occupant, Cheyenne Lynn Ralston, 17, for Onslow, was taken by the Midland Ambulance Service to Jones Regional Medical Center for her injuries. Wacker’s vehicle sustained approximately $22,000 in damages. Denolf’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,000 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on Sept. 29 at 9:43 p.m. at the intersection of Old Business Highway 151 and Hollywood Road in Monticello. Randy Kevin Moenk, 52, of Monticello was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix when he lost control heading north. Moenk crossed the centerline, entered the west ditch and struck a utility pole owned by Alliant Energy.  He was transported by Monticello Ambulance to Jones Regional Medical Center for his injuries. There was approximately $1,000 in damages to the utility pole. Moenk’s vehicle sustained approximately $7,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 2 at 12:34 a.m. on Highway 151. Ashlee Renee Peterson, 20, of Prairie Grove, Ark., was driving a 2007 Ford Edge when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Peterson’s vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 1 at 7:55 p.m. on County Road E-28. Joyce Mary Little, 44, of Anamosa was driving a 2014 Dodge Caravan when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Little’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,500 in damages.
