Sheriff's Report

      A hit and run truck vs. pedestrian accident took place on Oct. 20 at 7:06 p.m. on Newport Road. Levi Allen Miller, 26, of Anamosa was driving a Chevy S10 when he hit Torrie Chelsea Minnaert, of Olin. According to the Sheriff’s Report, Minnaert was under the influence or drugs/medications and standing improperly in the roadway. Miller was not injured. Minnaert was taken by air to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for incapacitating injuries. Miller’s vehicle sustained approximately $50 in damages as he swerved to avoid Minnaert.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 8 at 8:14 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 151 and Forest Chapel Road. Nicole Lynn Pins, 20, of Anamosa was driving a 2001 Chevy S10 when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Pins’ vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 22 at 7:31 p.m. at on Highway 151. Jaise Alan Studer, 19, of Cedar Rapids was driving a 1981 Chevy K10 when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Studer’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 22 at 5:06 p.m. at on Highway 151. Kayonna Leyanni Graham, 18, of Cedar Rapids was driving a 2010 Chevy Cobalt LT when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Graham’s vehicle sustained approximately $5,500 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on Oct. 21 at 5:21 p.m. on 148th Street. Austin Duane Martin, 17, of Monticello was driving a 1996 Chevy K1500 when he lost control. According to the Sheriff’s Report, Martin’s vehicle rolled, landing on the driver’s side. He was ejected from the vehicle as the truck continued to roll. Martin was transported by Monticello Ambulance to Jones Regional Medical Center, and then airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for serious injuries. Martin’s vehicle sustained approximately $9,000 in damages.
