Sheriff's Report

     A two-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 5 at 12:52 p.m. on Highway 38. Amy Lynn Wilson, 35, of Hopkinton was driving a 2007 Nissan Sentra north on Highway 38 when she hit the shoulder. Roadway conditions were snow and ice-covered. Wilson attempted to re-enter the roadway and was unable to regain control, entering the southbound lane. She struck a 2018 Kenworth Semi driven by Heath Alan Barrett, 37, of Knoxville, Iowa. Wilson was transported by Monticello Ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital for her injuries. No injuries were reported on the semi driver. The semi sustained approximately $9,000 in damages; Wilson’s vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 8 at 6:55 p.m. on County Road X-73/Eby’s Mill Road. Random Dean Summers Brady, 17, of Center Junction, was driving a 2000 Ford XPL when he swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. The road was snow-covered at the time of the accident. Brady’s vehicle rolled on its side where it came to rest. No injuries were reported. Brady’s vehicle sustained approximately $15,000 in damages.
