Sheriff's Report

     A two-vehicle accident took place on March 1 at 7:30 p.m. on County Road E-34. Matthew William Fischer, 47, of Anamosa, was driving a 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid north on E-34. Nathan Tyler Dietiker, 17, of Anamosa was driving a 2007 Ford F150 as he was getting ready to enter E-34 from 235th Avenue. According to the accident report, Dietiker was distracted by a passenger and failed to yield, striking Fischer. No injuries were reported. Fischer’s vehicle sustained approximately $4,000 in damages. Dietiker’s vehicle sustained approximately $4,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on March 2 at 11:22 p.m. on 30th Avenue. Adam Craig Gudenkauf, 28, of Monmouth, was driving a 2014 Ford Taurus when he encountered a deer on the roadway. No injuries were reported. Gudenkauf’s vehicle sustained approximately $6,000 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on March 5 at 2:57 p.m. on Highway 151. Mitchell Alan Baily, 17, of Springville, was driving a 2005 Ford Expedition when he lost control due to icy road conditions. Baily struck a utility pole causing $2,500 in damage to pole owned by Iowa DOT. No injuries were reported. Baily’s vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on March 5 at 8:26 a.m. on Highway 151. William Campbell Neuville, 43, of Salina, Kan., was driving a 2014 Freightliner Tractor Semi when he attempted to pass another vehicle. Once passed, Neuville attempted to travel in the right lane of traffic when he encountered slush on the roadway. Neuville lost control, entered the east ditch, causing the semi and trailer to jackknife. No injuries were reported. Neuville’s vehicle sustained approximately $15,000 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on March 5 at 4:03 p.m. on Highway 151. Winston Leroy Heck, 49 of Cedar Rapids, was driving a 2011 Chevy Silverado K1500 when he attempted to pass a vehicle. Heck encountered slush on the roadway and lost control, entering the north ditch. No injuries were reported. Heck’s vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on March 7 at 1:42 a.m. on Highway 151. Aric B. Nation, 25, of Milan, Ill., was driving a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis when he encountered a deer on the roadway. No injuries were reported. Nation’s vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 in damages.
