Sheriff's Report

     A car versus deer accident took place on Jan. 26 at 5:30 a.m. on Hi8ghway 38. Gary Jay Wiltsey, 55, of Clarence, was driving a 2003 Chevy Cavalier when he came into contact with a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Wiltsey’s vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 25 at 8:01 a.m. on County Road X-40. Lori Lynette Jess, 48, of Anamosa, was driving a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee when she encountered an icy spot on the roadway. Jess lost control and entered the west ditch, striking a building and a wagon parked nearby. She was taken by Anamosa Area Ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for her injuries. There was approximately $3,500 in damages to the building and wagon. Jess’ vehicle sustained approximately $6,000 in damages.

     A one-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 24 at 11:20 p.m. on Highway 151. Courtney Dawn Stuart, 20, of Marion, was driving a 2013 Kia Sol when she was blinded by blowing snow and lost control, entering the ditch. No injuries were reported. Stuart’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 in damages.
