Sheriff's Report

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 28 at 6:30 a.m. on Highway 151. Timothy Ryan Cool, 29, of Wilton was driving a 2015 Chevy Traverse when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Cool’s vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages.

     A two-vehicle accident took place on Oct. 24 at 12:58 a.m. on Highway 151. Jeramy Jacob Viet, 38, of Solon was driving a 2015 Chevy 2LM traveling south near Rock Road when he struck a grain wagon. The 2000 International 338 tractor was driven by Jason Alan Hasler, 36, of Cedar Rapids. Viet’s vehicle went airborne and rolled a number of times. It landed in the median. Both drivers were uninjured. Viet was found at fault for failing to move over and slow down for slow moving farm equipment. There was an estimated $10,000 in damages to Viet’s vehicle and $10,000 in damages to Hasler’s tractor and grain wagon.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 29 at 6:23 p.m. on Cherry Street west of Anamosa city limits. Leonard Lawrence Rhomberg, 67, of Anamosa was driving a 2005 Chrysler PCF when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Rhomberg’s vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages.

     A car versus calf accident took place on Oct. 29 at 9:33 p.m. on Highway 64. Joy Lynn Eichhorn, 66, of Maquoketa was driving a 2014 Hyundai SFE when she encountered several calves in the roadway. Eichhorn and her passenger, Patricia Ann Todorich, 65, of Maquoketa, were both uninjured. Eichhorn’s vehicle sustained an estimated $10,000 in damages. There was $1,300 in damages to the livestock owned by Steven Lee Wherry of Wyoming. Wherry stated his calves escaped through the fencing on his property. Wherry was also named at fault.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 30 at 7:12 a.m. on Highway 151. Joan Deanne Behrends, 64, of Monticello was driving a 2014 Toyota Rav when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Behrends’ vehicle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 29 at 12:57 a.m. on Highway 151. Sara Ann Wright, 63, of Cedar Rapids was driving a 2017 Volkswagon Bug when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Wright’s vehicle sustained an estimated $3,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 29 at 7:07 a.m. on Highway 38. Timothy Lee Rardin, 57, of Lake View was driving a 2005 Chevy Silverado when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Rardin’s vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 28 at 6:22 p.m. on Highway 64. Terry Ray Dash, 53, of Clinton was driving a 2005 Chevy Suburban when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Dash’s vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Nov. 1 at 6:46 a.m. on Highway 151. Todd Allen Chappell, 57, of Monticello was driving a 2014 Buick VCN when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Chappell’s vehicle sustained an estimated $10,000 in damages.
