Sheriff's Report

     A two-vehicle head-on collision took place on Jan. 13 at 4:59 p.m. at the intersection of 200th Avenue and 170th Street. Dalton David Camp, 22, of Anamosa was driving a 1997 Chevy C15 when he came over the crest of a hill and hit the other driver head-on. The other driver was Delbert James Loop, 71, of Monticello, driving a 2000 GMC Savana G3500. Camp admitted to driving in the center of the snow-covered gravel road. Camp said he attempted to slow down before hitting Loop but had no traction. Both drivers were uninjured. Camp’s vehicle sustained an estimated $8,000 in damages, and he was cited for driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway. Loop’s vehicle sustained $8,000 in damages as well.

     A single-vehicle accident took place on Jan. 12 at 1:19 p.m. on Highway 136. Delbert Melvin Pfab, 63, of Cascade was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer XLT when he lost control due to winter road conditions. Pfab entered the west/south ditch backwards and slid through a barbed wire fence. No injuries were reported. There was $500 in damages to the fence owned by Joshua Smith of Cascade. Pfab’s vehicle sustained an estimated $750 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on Jan. 12 at 1:45 p.m. on Highway 64. Wayne Charles Richard, 41, of Cedar Rapids was driving a 2002 Buick Park Avenue when he encountered a deer in the snow-covered roadway. Richard went down the embankment, through a fence and came to rest in a farm field. No injuries were reported. Richard’s vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages.
