Sheriff's Report

     A car versus deer accident took place on Feb. 24 at 6:28 p.m. on County Road E-34. Kristin Marie Linvell, 52, of Anamosa was driving a 2015 Subaru Outback when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Linvell’s vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages.

     A single-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 17 at 7:15 p.m. on Highway 151. Shayla D. Johnson, 19, or Rockford, Ill., was driving a 2005 Ford Utility when she hit a slick spot on the roadway. Johnson’s vehicle went into the median, where it rolled a couple of times. No injuries were reported. Johnson’s vehicle sustained $2,000 in damages.

     A two-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 18 at 3:12 p.m. on Fourth Avenue. Gary Lee Bickford, 62, of Oxford Junction was driving a 2000 Ford F150 when he struck an unoccupied 2014 Dodge RAM that was legally parked on the roadway. Bickford’s vehicle sustained approximately $250 in damages. The parked vehicle sustained $1,500 in damages. Bickford was uninjured. He was cited for operation of a motor vehicle with expired license.

     A single-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 23 at 8:54 a.m. on Highway 151 near Rock Road. Alyssa Kay Walker, 27, of Mechanicsville was driving a 2008 Chevy Equinox when she began changing lanes to turn onto Rock Road. Walker hit a patch of ice on the roadway and spun before entering the east ditch. No injuries were reported. Walker’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 in damages. There was also $50 in damages to a DOT road marker.

     A single-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 23 at 5:31 p.m. on Highway 151. David Michael Vens, 34, of Mount Pleasant, was driving a 2005 Chevy Colorado when his vehicle left the icy roadway. Vens entered the median where his vehicle overturned. He was trapped inside, extricated by emergency personnel. Cascade Ambulance transported Vens to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque for his injuries. His vehicle sustained $10,000 in damages.

     A single-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 26 at 2:21 p.m. on Highway 136. Gary Allen Dillshaw, 55, of Antlers, Okla., was driving a 2017 Kenworth TT (semi) when he pulled over on the shoulder to look for directions. Dillshaw pulled over too far, causing his semi to roll onto the passenger side into the west ditch. Dillshaw received minor injuries. His vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in damages.

     A single-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 26 at 9:05 p.m. on Highway 151. Breanna Kay Knapp, 17, of Anamosa was driving a 2003 Chevy Impala LS when she lost control due to the ice-covered roadway. Knapp entered the west ditch and rolled her vehicle. Both Knapp and her passenger, Makailynn Ries, 17, were treated at Jones Regional Medical Center for their injuries. Knapp’s vehicle sustained $5,000 in damages.

     A two-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. on 200th Avenue. Molly Meloy Crock, 36, of Mechanicsville was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion south on 200th Ave. Jacob Alan Kirkpatrick, 28, also of Mechanicsville was driving a 1993 John Deere 4840 tractor coming from the field as he tried to cross the roadway into the cattle yard.  Kirkpatrick pulled out in front of Crock. No injuries were reported for either driver. Crock’s vehicle sustained $2,000 in damages. The tractor sustained little to no damage.

     A single-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 27 at 7:15 a.m. on County Road X-31. Keith Orren Young, 56, of Coggon was driving a 2005 Subaru Forester when he lost control due to icy road conditions. Young was going around a curve, got onto the shoulder and an icy spot causing his vehicle to fishtail. He crossed the centerline and rolled his vehicle, which came to rest on its top. Young was uninjured.  His vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 in damages.
