Sheriff's Report

A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 25 at 6:43 p.m. on County Road X-40. Steven Michael Eiselstein, Jr., 42, of Wilton was driving a 2004 Kia SPC when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Eiselstein’s vehicle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damages. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 26 at 10:40 a.m. on Highway 136. Parrish Lee Helms, 55, of La Valle, Wis., was driving a 2019 Chevy Equinox when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Helms’ vehicle sustained an estimated $1,000 in damages. 

A two-vehicle accident took place on Oct. 26 at 2:03 p.m. near Fulton Street and Highway 38. Sheryl Ann Engelbart, 65, of Anamosa was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Golf. Chrisandra Elaine Bell, 40, of Stanwood was driving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. Both vehicles attempted to make U-turns and collided with one another. Neither driver sustained injuries. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $1,000. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 27 at 7:02 a.m. on County Road E-28. Sheryl Kay Owen, 67, of Anamosa, was driving a 2018 Toyota Tacoma when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Owen’s vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 28 at 6:05 a.m. on Highway 64. Michael Joseph Streeper, 56, of Onslow, was driving a 2013 Ford F150 when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Streepers’ vehicle sustained an estimated $3,000 in damages. 

A two-vehicle accident took place on Oct. 25 at 1:42 p.m. near 88th Avenue and 32nd Street north of Olin. Brad Martin Lasack, 38, of Stanwood was driving a 2004 Ford F350 east on 32nd Street. Bruce Allen Gray, 51, of Olin was driving a 2000 Chevy K2500 Silverado north on 88th Avenue. As both vehicles approached an uncontrolled intersection hauling grain, the tall corn obstructed their view. Both vehicles collided. No injuries were reported. Lasack’s vehicle sustained $5,000 in damages. Gray’s vehicle sustained $2,000 in damages and $2,000 in damages to his tractor. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 28 at 8 a.m. near County Road X-75 and 65th Avenue. Jennifer Sue Eckhardt, 45, of Olin, was driving a 2008 Toyota Sienna CE/LE when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Eckhardt’s vehicle sustained an estimated $1,500 in damages. 

A single-vehicle accident took place on Oct. 29 at 4 a.m. on Cherry Grove Road. Joseph William Jilovec, 25, of Mechanicsville was driving a 2014 Chevy Silverado K1500 when he lost control after falling asleep at the wheel. He entered the east ditch, hit the embankment, and his vehicle came to rest on the passenger side in a creek bed. No injuries were reported. Jilovec’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 in damages. He was cited for failure to maintain control. 

A single-vehicle accident took place on Oct. 29 at 7:30 a.m. on County Road E-34. Alicia Louise O’Brien, 31, of Monticello was driving a 2006 Ford F250 when she hit a patch of ice, causing her vehicle to spin. O’Brien ended up in the ditch on the opposite side of the road, facing north. No injuries were reported. O’Brien’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 in damages. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Oct. 30 at 6:14 a.m. on County Road E-45. Stacey Lynn Burke, 34, of Marion was driving a 2015 Toyota RAV4 when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Burke’s vehicle sustained an estimated $3,000 in damages.
