Sheriff's Report

A car versus deer accident took place on Nov. 4 at 6:13 p.m. on Highway 151. Jacqueline Ann Ansel, 41, of Dubuque was driving a 2015 Lincoln Navigator when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Ansel’s vehicle sustained an estimated $10,000 in damages. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Nov. 4 at 6:32 a.m. on 20th Avenue. Jacob Lee Baker, 23, of Oxford Junction was driving a 2018 Toyota Camry when he encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Baker’s vehicle sustained an estimated $2,000 in damages. 

A three-vehicle accident took place on Oct. 31 at 7:59 a.m. on County Road E-28. A school bus was stopped on the roadway, with another vehicle behind the bus. Todd Michael McNeil, 41, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., was driving a 2017 RAM 5500 when he came around a bend and didn’t see the other two vehicles stopped on the road. He attempted to slow down and stop on the snow-covered road. Rebecca Allison Smith, 16, of Anamosa was driving a 1999 Buick Riviera when she was unable to stop her vehicle in time, sliding into the back of McNeil’s vehicle. A third vehicle entered the ditch to avoid hitting Smith. No injuries were reported. McNeil’s vehicle sustained $1,500 in damages. Smith’s vehicle sustained $2,000 in damages. 

A single-vehicle accident took place on Nov. 7 at 7:37 a.m. on Highway 151. Jennifer Jean Watters, 34, of Coralville was driving a 2008 Chevy Aveo LT southbound on 151 as she attempted to pass another vehicle. Watters noticed a second vehicle moving at a slow rate of speed in front of her. She hit the brakes and swerved to miss the second vehicle, causing her to go into the median and roll her vehicle. No injuries were reported. Watters’ vehicle sustained $3,000 in damages. 

A car versus deer accident took place on Nov. 3 at 5:56 p.m. on County Road E-45. Kara Lyn Hultquist, 45, of Olin was driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Hultquist’s vehicle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damages.
