Spahn & Rose names new vice president


John Cook

     Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. has appointed John Cook as its Vice President, Supply Chain effective Feb. 15. In his new position, Cook will have overall responsibility for vendor and inventory management, purchasing, assortment planning, and product distribution.

     Cook started his Spahn & Rose career at the company’s Monticello location in counter sales in 1991 and was promoted to Assistant Manager after a few years there. He became the General Manager at Spahn & Rose’s Charlotte yard in 1997 and served there until 2003 when he was promoted to the position of Sales Manager/Assistant Manager of the Dubuque location in March 2003. Cook became General Manager of the Dubuque yard in December 2011.

     Cook is excited to take on his new responsibility. “I’m extremely motivated and looking forward to sharing my experiences and successes that I have had along my journey with Spahn & Rose with the entire company,” Cook said. “This is an exciting time to become a major part of the leadership team that is committed to supporting and growing this company as who we are today and who we will be in the future. I look forward to working alongside and communicating with all of you to create the support, structure and programs that we all need to help this company grow and be highly respected in every aspect of the business.”

     Spahn & Rose is headquartered in Dubuque, Iowa, and operates 24 retail lumber and building material stores across Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, as well as a lumber-distribution facility in Independence, Iowa.
