Softball tourneys

are set at EISF

     The Eastern Iowa Sports Facility (EISF) will hold five Spring Indoor Softball Classic tournaments on Saturdays beginning in February 2017.

     The tournaments are for teams in the 10-and-under, 12-and-under, 14-and-under and high school age groups. Teams can sign up for Classes A, B or C. The tournaments will be held Feb. 18 and 25, and March 4, 11 and 25.

     Each team will play two games in a 3.5-hour window. Entry fees are $150 per team for 10-and-under C and 12-and-under C, and $225 for all other divisions.

MHS graduates

college game

     Two Monticello High School graduates were on opposite teams as Wartburg defeated Coe 70-66 in a college men’s basketball game Dec. 7 at Coe in Cedar Rapids.

     Sawyer Herman played 14 minutes for Wartburg, scoring seven points and blocking a shot. Herman, a 6-foot-2 junior guard for the Knights, also had one rebound, one assist and one steal.

     Spencer Williams played for Coe, and grabbed one rebound in seven minutes of action. Williams is a 6-6 junior forward.
