Monti-Anamosa

game to be part of

Rivalry Saturday

     Monticello will play Anamosa as part of the 14th annual Rivalry Saturday girls basketball event, to be held Saturday, Nov. 24 at Coe College in Cedar Rapids.

     That game will be one of eight scheduled throughout the day. The schedule is as follows:

     9:15 a.m. – Iowa City West vs. Davenport Assumption.

     10:50 a.m. – Monticello vs. Anamosa.

     12:25 p.m. – Maquoketa Valley vs. Sumner-Fredericksburg.

     2 p.m. – East Buchanan vs. MFL MarMac.

     3:35 p.m. – North Linn vs. Montezuma.

     5:10 p.m. – Western Dubuque vs. North Scott.

     6:45 p.m. – Center Point-Urbana vs. Mount Vernon.

     8:20 p.m. – Cedar Rapids Prairie vs. Marion.

 

Middle school

cross country

opens at home

     Monticello’s middle school cross country teams opened their season by hosting the Monticello Invitational Sept. 8 at the high school.

     Monticello finished third in the girls’ race with a score of 79, behind Mid-Prairie (37) and Cascade (75). Emma Althoff led the Panthers, finishing third overall in 13:33 for the two-mile course. Claire Tuetken was also in the top 10, finishing seventh in 14:22.

     The Panthers were fourth in the boys’ race, led by Harrison Ahlrichs, who was third individually in 13:02.

 

OWLs plan

river cruise

     Join the Dubuque, Jackson, and Jones County OWLs (Older Wiser Livelier) group on Monday, Oct. 1st, at 10 a.m. for a relaxing river cruise of the Mississippi River backwaters.

     Captain Robert weaves humor, history, beauty, and wildlife into his tour. On our tour we’ll enjoy lunch on the banks of the Mississippi River.
