Monticello Elite

excels in state

wrestling events

     Several members of the Monticello Elite Wrestling Club have competed in statewide events in recent weeks.

     At the AAU State Wrestling Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Kale Hansen took third place in the eighth-grade division. Other Monticello qualifiers included Layne Hearne and Ethan Long.

     At the Super Peewee State Wrestling Tournament in Waterloo, Wyatt Wilson had a second place finish in his second-grade division, and Harris Hackney was fifth in his first-grade division. Other participants include Tres Lerma, Henry Monk and Ethan Rupp.

 

Dosland is

honored at

Midland

     Sheri Dosland was named the 2018-19 Athletic Booster of the Year for Midland schools during their winter sports banquet Feb. 28.

     Dosland was nominated due to her active involvement in Midland athletics for more than 10 years. She volunteers and donates time, energy and money to various causes at Midland, as well as decorating, chaperoning, and more. She has served as vice president and then president of the Midland Athletic Booster Club.

 

Granny basketball

practice to be held

     A granny basketball practice will be held Sunday, March 10, 3-4 p.m. at the BErndes Center.

     The practice is for women ages 50 and over who are interested in joining Monticello’s new granny basketball team. An open gym for participants will be held the same day, from 2 to 3 p.m.
