MYBSA to host

Girls’ and Boys’

Nights at the

Ballpark

     The Monticello Youth Baseball and Softball Association (MYBSA) will host Girls’ Night and Boys’ Night at the Ballpark in the coming weeks.

     MYBSA Girls’ Night at the Ballpark will be on Thursday, June 15 at the high school softball field between the JV and varsity games when the Panthers host Iowa City Regina.

     The JV game will start at 5:30pm and the Varsity game at 7:30pm. Citizens State Bank is sponsoring a drawing of  five, $20 gift certificates to Monticello Sports, two Bag Chairs, and an autographed softball by the 2017 varsity softball team. Must be present to win.

     MYBSA Boys Night at the Ballpark will be on Monday, June 19 at the high school baseball field between games of the varsity doubleheader when the Panthers host Northeast of Goose Lake. The first Varsity game will start at 5:30 p.m. and the second game at 7:30 p.m. Ohnward Bank is sponsoring a drawing of a equipment bag back pack, a baseball cap, and an autographed baseball by the 2017 varsity baseball team. Must be present to win.

     For both nights, players and coaches should wear their team t-shirts or jerseys and will line up with the varsity players on the field. Each player will receive a hot dog, donated by the Monticello Express, and a bottle of water.

     Also, MYBSA will have ticket vouchers available, good for Monticello Night at the Kernels July 7. Vouchers will be available at the concession stand.

 

Nature center sets

fish kite program

   Have nothing to do on Saturday, June 10?

     Fly on over and join us for a fun afternoon of learning about fish and creating fish kites with the naturalist intern, Anna James. This event will take place in the Central Park Nature Center basement at 1 p.m. Come prepared with creativity and be ready to run and have fun with our newly made kites.

Reuter honored as

Central four-year

letter-winner

     Michael Reuter of Monticello was recognized as being a four-year letter-winner with the Central College baseball team as part of the team’s post-season honors, the Pella school announced.

     Reuter, a senior catcher, played in 42 games, batting .277 with 20 runs scored, 43 hits, six doubles, three home runs and 30 runs batted in.
