Perseid Meteor
Showers
Come learn about the Perseid Meteor Showers, Aug. 13-14. Learn how you can view meteor showers in the sky, the history of meteor showers, and make your own mini-telescope to take home. The “Perseid Meteor Shower” event is a come and go weekend theme at the Central Park Nature Center occurring Saturday and Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Join us on Aug. 20-21, anytime from 1 to 5 p.m., at the Central Park Nature Center to learn about some of our amazing “Nighttime Neighbors.”
Discover who has big eyes to see you, who has big ears to hear you, and who has no eyes at all! Make a fun nighttime neighbor mask to take home.

beginners
Join us on Friday, Aug. 12 at 8 a.m. to learn some of the basics of catching catfish at Central Park.
After a short introduction you’ll have time to try your luck at catching a catfish from the Central Park Lake. Anyone 16 and over must have a current valid Iowa Fishing License to fish. Want to keep your catch? Bring a cooler and ice. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Don’t have fishing equipment? Borrow some of ours. We even have the bait.
