Starlighters prepares for Christmas production

Starlighters II Community Theatre is hard at work on their upcoming Christmas show, “Christmas Dreams” by Jon Robertson, which will be presented Dec. 1-3 and 8-10. Tickets are available online now. Box Office opens Nov. 20.

Charlotte Scheckel, director, Heather Sims, assistant director, are busy rehearsing the story that emphasizes family.

Set in 1933 Chicago, the play takes us to the home of Abby, played by Linda Merritt. She is a strong and endearing character who is the matriarch of the McArthur family. Her grandson, Jackie, played by Colin Heeren, is rather enthralled by the hobos he sees in the train yards and longs to escape the hard times facing him and his family, especially his father, Holmes McArthur, played by Eric Henderson. Omaha Red, played by K.R. Knopp, is one of the hobos who tries to advise young Jackie. Concentrating on escaping his problems, Jackie seems oblivious to the growing affections of a certain young lady, Laura, played by Tabitha Etten. Grandma Abby’s faith in people extends to her neighbor, Ray, played by Gerald Morrison, as well as her favorite Christmas poinsettia, which seems ever so reluctant to bloom.

Christmas brings relatives to town, and we meet Abby’s daughter, Doris, played by Allison Winter, and her husband, Joshua, played by Logan Heeren, as well as carolers: Susan Wilcox, Dennis Heeren, Nancy Collell, Jennifer Braden, Ali Braden, and Cory Braden.

Make plans to attend this story of love and miracles to start the Christmas season.
