Starlighters Theatre offers children’s workshops

     Starlighters II Community Theatre is offering several activities for children in 2017: Starlighters Kids, Drama Basics Workshop, Storytime at Starlighters, and Summer Camp.

     The first activity, Drama Basics Workshop, begins Sunday, Jan. 8. It is designed for students in grades third through eighth, and will help acquaint students with acting skills. A child does not have to attend the workshops to audition for the Summer Camp; neither does attending the workshops guarantee a part in the camp production.

     The sessions run an hour to an hour and a half, beginning Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. with Kori Root teaching Theatre Dance Basics. A $10 registration fee will cover all five workshops. Scholarships are available if needed.

     There is a cap of 15 kids for the workshops. Please call 319-480-6827 to reserve your spot. They will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis. Reservations are appreciated by Thursday, Jan. 5.

     If a child decides to attend only one workshop, the fee is still $10. There is no pro-rating.

     The workshops are as follows:

     • Jan. 8 – Theatre Dance Basics with Kori Root

     • Feb. 12 – Theatre Singing Basics with Katharine Bergman

     • March 12 – Theatre Acting Basics with Polly Chalstrom

     • April 9 – Theatre Speaking Basics with Victoria Wims
