Starlighters Theatre offers youth summer camp

Starlighters II Theatre in Anamosa is teaming up with Old Creamery Theatre in Amana to offer a new program for young theater artists.

“Junior Starlighters” is holding a summer camp for any child, ages 7 to 15, who wants to learn more about the art of theater. No prior experience is required.

The weeklong workshop will give youth the opportunity to work with professional actors from Old Creamery Theatre as they rehearse and present a musical based on the tale of “Little Red Meets the Wolves.” This is a rollicking musical that reminds us what can happen when you jump to conclusions.

The summer camp will be held at Starlighters Theatre in Anamosa, 200 E. Main St. It will take place July 9 through 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Campers are asked to bring a sack lunch.

The final performance will be held on Friday, July 13, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 14 at 2 p.m.

The cost is $60 per child.

Starlighters asks that the children attending commit to all rehearsals and both final performances.

Registration is underway, and must be submitted by June 1. Space is limited. Everyone who signs up will be cast in the musical.

For more information or to sign up, call 319-573-3775 or visit www.starlighters.org.
