Stecklein wins football contest

   Ed Stecklein of Monticello is this week’s winner of the Express Football Contest. Stecklein missed just one game to win the $15 prize. Placing second was Nels Petersen, also of Monticello. Petersen missed only two games and used his tiebreaker score of 58 (Panther game was 60) to edge Gertie Sieverding (51) of Cascade.

   Among the guest pickers, Tom Brokaw of B&E Insurance missed three games, and Brad Freese of Freese Motors missed four games. The contest had 40 entries.

Bader is winner

   The previous week’s contest results were inadvertently left out of the Sept. 28 Express.

   Justin Bader of Monticello was the winner. Bader missed just two games, good for $15. Several contestants missed three games, and by selection of her tiebreaker score of 41 (Panther score was 42),  Janet Oberfoell of Monticello placed second, good for $5.

   Also missing three games, and their tie-breaker scores, were Kevin Knapp (40), Nels Petersen (45), Cory Ranney (46), Carol Jacobs (49), Dana Freese (49), Dave Messerli (55) and Steve Kuehn (68).  Among the guest pickers, Quinn Behrends of Behrends Spine & Wellness missed five games, Sam Hunt of Farm Bureau Insurance missed six games.

   That contest had 43 entries.

   Winners from either contest may pick up their money at the Express office.
