Still time to register for PTO Fun Run, May 13

Staff report

The Monticello PTO Fun Run is fast approaching, set for Saturday, May 13. The race kicks off at 10:30 a.m. at the Monticello High School grounds.

For those who have not registered to take part in the family-friendly event, you can still register the morning of the race at 9:30. The cost is $20; though a pack of bubbles and a t-shirt will not be guaranteed. Registration forms are also still available at each school office, or sign up online at tinyurl.com/montifunrun.

Students attending Shannon and Carpenter elementary schools are able to participate for free, and do not need to register.

Those who pre-registered for the Fun Run can pick up their t-shirts and bubble packs on Friday, May 12, from 4-6 p.m. in the Carpenter School gym, or pick them up the morning of the race at 9:30.

The race route this year is shorter than previous years, tough participants can run or walk the route multiple times if inclined. Various stations along the route will be set up: a bubble station, a foam cannon, a water station (thanks to the Monticello Fire Department), and an obstacle course.

Following the Fun Run, there will be a dance party, a dunk tank, and a food stand open near the high school. Elementary School Counselor Aimee Hospodarsky will DJ the dance. Teachers and community members will take their turns inside the dunk tank. The Monticello Athletic Boosters will man the food stand.

All of the proceeds from the Fun Run will help the Monticello elementary schools move toward one-on-one technology with iPads and computers for the classrooms.
