Storm damage

Nick and Amy Covington who live on N. Chestnut Street in Monticello got a rude awakening in the middle of the night shortly before 3 a.m., July 10, when part of a giant tree in their yard split in half. The tree likely split due to the saturation from the rain, as well as high winds during the storm. Luckily, the tree did not cause any damage to thew Covington home, as well as their neighbor’s. Nick said he heard the tree start to crack and it only took a few seconds to hit the ground. (Photo by Kim Brooks)
